Batik Workshop in Shatin Opens New Creative Opportunities for Youth

A batik workshop has recently been launched in the village of Shatin, offering local schoolchildren and young people a new platform for creative expression. The initiative responds to a notable lack of extracurricular opportunities within the community.

Through the workshop, participants progressively learn batik techniques, starting from conceptual development and moving through to the creation of finished artworks. They gain hands-on experience working with various fabrics and dyes, developing initial sketches, experimenting with color combinations, and exploring a range of artistic techniques.
For many participants, this workshop represents their first structured creative experience. It is already having a positive impact on their daily lives, enhancing their self-confidence, creativity, and critical thinking skills.

The young artists are enthusiastically preparing for an upcoming exhibition, where they will have the opportunity to present their first works to the wider community.

The workshop is organized by the Community Development NGO, with the support of the German organization Brot für die Welt, as part of the Improvement of Income Possibilities in Rural Areas project.
