As a result of the war, displaced families often face numerous challenges in their new environment, both material and psychological. In response to the multiple challenges, the Community Development NGO, with the support of the German organization Renovabis, organized two rounds of three-day integration retreats for families forcibly displaced from Artsakh and currently residing in the Vayots Dzor region.
During the retreats, participants had the opportunity to get to know one another, creating a unique atmosphere of trust and unity. Group sessions for adults, led by psychologists and spiritual advisors, were conducted in a warm and interactive atmosphere. The topics discussed reflected the most pressing concerns of the families, enabling parents to share their experiences and receive individual consultation openly. Invited experts, including the organization’s consultant Dr. Harutyun Harutyunyan, offered valuable advice on coping with stress and supporting children’s mental well-being—an issue of vital importance for families affected by such traumatic circumstances.

While parents attended these sessions, children engaged in developmental and team-building games led by a child psychologist. These activities helped foster new friendships among the children and significantly reduced feelings of anxiety and isolation. Their bright, carefree smiles seemed to say, “We are not alone…”
These three-day retreats became a powerful platform for hope, healing, and solidarity, ensuring displaced families from Artsakh that they are not alone in facing the challenges.
