Seminar on Agroecological Principles in Practice

The Community Development NGO, within the framework of the Improvement of Income Possibilities in Rural Areas program recently organized a seminar on the topic Fundamentals of Agroecology in Viticulture.

The goal of the initiative was to assist viticulture farmers in applying agroecological principles, ensuring environmental safety, and contributing to the sustainable development of the sector.

The seminar’s speaker, Nvard Shahmuradyan—Agricultural Programs Coordinator at Shen NGO and Director of Baleni Agro Consulting LLC—presented viticulture’s fundamental principles, integrating international and local best practices. She emphasized the importance of innovative methods and modern technologies while highlighting the distinctive features of intensive viticulture. Furthermore, she mentioned the sector’s significance not only as an agricultural field but also as an essential part of cultural heritage.

The event gathered both experienced viticulturists and newcomers interested in the field. During the seminar’s practical session, participants visited the Aghasafi demonstration orchard.

This seminar provided participants with the opportunity to enhance their professional expertise, familiarize themselves with contemporary agricultural technologies, and engage in knowledge exchange, fostering new collaborations.

Additionally, participants will attend a two-day training on business plan development. The most promising attendees will have the chance to take part in exchange visits to Georgia to study international best practices.
