In an effort to support displaced people from Ukraine and socially vulnerable groups in Vayots Dzor province, the Community Development NGO has successfully implemented another professional course.
This initiative, supported by the German organization Bread for the World, marks a significant step towards empowering individuals through skill acquisition and self-employment opportunities.
The project was divided into two comprehensive phases aimed at holistic career development.
1. Phase One: Career Planning and Preparation
The first phase of the project focused on equipping participants with essential career-planning tools. Under the expert guidance of Serob Khachatryan, a lecturer at Yerevan State University (YSU), participants delved into topics such as:
– Labor Market Issues: Understanding the current job market dynamics and identifying potential employment opportunities.
– CV and Cover Letter Preparation: Learning the art of crafting effective resumes and cover letters to enhance their job applications.
2. Phase Two: Professional Hairdressing Course
The second phase of the project was dedicated to hands-on professional training in hairdressing, a valuable skill that offers numerous employment opportunities. This course was led by Nelly Harutyunyan, a beneficiary of the NGO’s integration program who relocated to Vayots Dzor province due to the Russian-Ukrainian war. During this phase, participants acquired practical skills in:
– Haircuts and Styling: Techniques for various haircuts and styling methods.
– Working with Dyes and Pigments: Understanding the process and techniques involved in hair coloring.
– Hygiene Practices: Emphasizing the importance of hygiene in the hairdressing profession to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
The primary goal of this project is to provide participants with a new profession, enabling them to achieve self-employment and generate a sustainable income. By equipping displaced persons and socially vulnerable groups with practical skills, the project aims to enhance their overall quality of life.
