From March 1 to the present, within the framework of the Horticulture Market Development program of Syunik-Development NGO, with the support of Atken Armenian Foundation, the farmers of the Vayots Dzor Region are provided with free high-quality fruit seedlings.
The project aims at creating an additional or main source of income for farmers. The seedlings are provided to farmers who have appropriate areas, are engaged in gardening, or want to expand what they have. Already 70 people have used this profitable offer, obtaining more than 4 000 saplings.
In addition to providing seedlings, the specialists of Syunik-Development NGO are prepared to help farmers to acquire new knowledge and skills in their proper cultivation.
One of the beneficiaries of that project, Samvel Baboyan, has his garden in the Malishka community. He took 30 apricot saplings to enlarge the garden. Mr. Baboyan expressed readiness to participate in the courses organized by the specialists of the Syunik-Development NGO, which will help to cultivate the gardens more effectively, to ensure their proper care.
