From January 14 to 16, the Youth Empowerment Project implemented by the Youth Consolidation NGO was launched with the participation of active youth from the community of Areni.
More than fifty-five young people from nine settlements, including Agarakadzor, Aghavnadzor, Areni, Arpi, Gnishik, Elpin, Khachik, Chiva and Rind, were united in the Siranuysh camp of the Vayots Dzor Diocese.
During the three-day meeting of the third phase, the Youth of the Areni community were equipped with knowledge and skills of quick and operative response in emergency situations. The training was presented by Suren Harutyunyan, Lieutenant Colonel of Vayots Dzor Rescue Service, and Nikolay Mkrtchyan, Captain of the Rescue Service.
During the Empowerment, the employees of the Ministry of Defense, who visited the young people, presented a Military Training course.
The young people had an opportunity to acquire new knowledge and skills on local self-government. The training course was implemented by Shushan Danielyan, Responsible Person for the Economic Development of the Yeghegis community. The young people were armed with knowledge about local self-government through intellectual games.
Within the framework of the Youth Empowerment Project, the young people presented community projects that will promote the development of their settlements.
Within the Syunik-Development NGO’s Improvement of Income Possibilities in Rural Areas of Armenia project, the members of the commission gave Areni settlement a grant for the best project. The awarded project aims to sort the waste and to hand over plastic and glass waste for recycling.
With the implementation of this project, young people expect to have a clean environment, a conscious society, ensuring youth employment, and stable business in the future. The project was built on the Social Entrepreneurship concept.
Syunik-Development NGO provides 160,000 AMD to the youth for the implementation project.
